Promise Kept: Paul Usoro SAN Donates N1m to Abused Women and Girls

Paul Usoro SAN, has redeemed a pledge he made to a group of female lawyers in River State, by donating N1,000,000 to the African Women Lawyers Association, AWLA, its coordinator has confirmed today.

In a message distributed via instant messaging application WhatsApp, the AWLA said it was very grateful to the legal luminary and his wife Mfon Usoro for being in the forefront of the battle to restore dignity to abused women and girls.

“Dear friends, I can confirm that Mr. Paul Usoro SAN, has kept his word of honour to the African Women Lawyers Association Rivers State as he has redeemed his pledge of N1,000,000 for our proposed AWLA Shelter for Abused Women and Girls.

“He made this pledge during our 1st Anniversary and Fundraising for the Shelter in October 2017.

“We are indeed grateful to him and his wife Mfon Usoro for championing the cause of Women. ” the AWLA Rivers statement read.

The AWLA marked the first anniversary of its Shelter Fund Raising event in October where Mr. Usoro accompanied by his wife, made the pledge.

The money will be put towards building a new home for abused women and girls in the state.

Speaking during the event, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria made a strong case for women and girls, calling for more opportunities to be given to them.

“Women have the potentials to drive positive societal changes if only they are given ample opportunities to do so.

“I strongly believe that when women occupy positions of authority, there are more visible dividends for people to benefit from.

“That’s why I support causes like these that will help change the narratives with respect to the plight of women in the country” he said at the time.

When Barfirst360 contacted Mr. Usoro for a comment, his assistant promised to revert soon.
